Course 3: Connecting and Collaborating: Advanced Networking for Editors
Build your network while learning how to network
effectively.
We've always encouraged editors to work through Networking for Freelance
Editors with a few colleagues, because we know that peer learning is
effective—especially when it comes to networking.
Now we’re creating community-powered courses to help you learn how to
network effectively while building your network.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a community-powered course?
A community-powered course is an online course that is built on group learning.
Because we're teaching you how to network successfully, it's important that you have the
opportunity to practice networking while learning about it.
Every student benefits when we all share our experiences, our insights, and explore the
possibilities together.

This course is for editors, proofreaders, indexers, fact-checkers, translators, writers, and anyone else pursuing a freelance career in the publishing industry.
Do I need the book Networking for Freelance Editors?
- Yes, but you will have received a copy of the e-book as part of the prerequisite, Course 1. Please check your course welcome email.

- The book is the textbook for this course, so you must download it before beginning the course.
How long does it take to complete this course?
This course is designed to be completed in six weeks. We follow a weekly agenda and assignment schedule, and you'll get the most out of the course if you can commit a minimum of two hours per week to the lessons and engaging with fellow students.
How long will I have access to the course materials for?
We understand that life happens and that schedules shift. That's why you'll have access to the materials for two weeks after the course ends, for a total of six weeks (including the assignment space and course discussion space).
PLUS, after six weeks, we'll give you free six-month access to the self-paced version of the course materials (does not include live events or feedback) so that you can continue to work on the lessons.
Does it matter how long I've been editing for?
Not at all. This course doesn't teach editing skills. It teaches you how to network in our industry and shows you a step-by-step process for building the network that will support you at every point of your career.
How long will it take to get access?
You'll receive immediate access to the entire course and to The Networking Studio Community on Circle.
What if I prefer to work on my own?
We understand! Some of us prefer to work on our own--at least at first, when we're learning something new. Others have schedules that make it a challenge to complete a course in four weeks.
If that's the case, you might prefer the self-paced version of this course [LINK HERE].
Do you have a refund policy?
We work hard to make sure that students know what to expect with our approach to networking and our course materials (and we make a lot of our teach available for free in various mediums), so we do not offer a refund policy for this or any of our course.
BUT, if you sign up for the course and let us know a minimum of 3 days prior to the posted start date that you cannot attend the session you signed up for, we will allow you to roll your tuition over to the next open session. Please contact us directly if you have questions.
